A PERFECT EVENING FOR AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION…

York PA

SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR….

I know I could fill this entire wall with thanks, but I’ll give you the brief version:

I thank God for Grace, for blessing me… I’m so rich!  Rich with love from family and friends.

I’m thankful to be blessed with the talent to document lives, to be part of your memories, to share the way I see things…. the way He designed me.  I’m thankful for 2nd, 3rd.. 4th chances.  Thankful to have such wonderful clients that I never dreamed I would be so close to and their patience as I grow, as I strive to balance, to be the woman God designed me to be.. as I learn… I thank you for your understanding.

I’m thankful for my Furbabies (dogs):)who greet me as if I’m the only thing in this World that matters to them! (well.. EXCEPT big Barbara Ann… we know food is her #1 priority in life!!!)   They bring me such great joy.

I’m thankful that even though I’m 800+ miles away from my entire family and everything I’ve ever known, I do not feel alone.  I’m thankful to have (multiple sets) of parents:) that love me unconditionally and always there no matter what. I’m thankful for the wonderful meal I had today and that I have food everyday and a place to lay my head (even if that is on my desk!! haha ) I’m thankful for those that push me to do my best…who are brutally honest.. that believe in me.. that can see the potential and refuse to let me fail.  I’m thankful to the one that is responsible for getting this whole thing started… who saw something in me and took a chance to even suggest I lay my hands on a professional camera and provided not only material things, but a chance to do something with my life.

I’m thankful for each new day… and that ANYTHING is possible.  I’m thankful for my adventurous life. One day I can be grounded for nasty weather at a private airport in Connecticut knowing only 10 hours prior that I would even see a new state that day, haha…  and a few weeks later find myself photographing on the West Coast ( a place I’d always dreamt of but never thought I would see) This lifestyle is FAR from “normal” and a lot of people aren’t designed for it but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I’m thankful for my freedom to make my own CRAZY schedule.

I’m thankful for my office that is inspiring and for all my colorful office supplies (Chelsea and Janelle this goes out to you!!:) heehe.  I love that it’s in a barn.  I love the scratched floors from years of history.  I’m also thankful for most of my items in there and living space were either donated to me, I found on the side of the road, I made, I found at a yard sale super cheap or rescued from a burn-pile… AND thankful for clorox, sandpaper and fresh paint to give those things a new happy home:) I’m thankful that God provided a safe and dependable new ride totally unexpected.. just “out of the blue”:)

Random thanks:  I’m even thankful for Jimmy Fallon for expressing some of MY feelings through his own Thank-you notes:)hahaaa.  I’m thankful when the time changes back and it’s not DARK AT 4:45 ANY MORE!!  I’m thankful when I call a company and someONE answers the phone and not a 12 minute menu.  I’m thankful for the cool California nights when I could drive with the windows down hugging the California curves at 3a.m. just ME, God, more stars than I’ve ever seen [and the poor brand new rental jeep grand cherokee. yikes!]   AND thankful for all the nights to come like that!

I’m even thankful you took the time to read this (unless you just skipped the whole thing and read this conclusion! haha) Thank you for following my “blog”…. for your “word-of-mouth”… and for being part of my blessed, complicated, adventurous, life… because when I photograph you I capture and document the moment.  I make time stand still for you and provide something you can look back on 15 years later and remember tickling your children to make them laugh in that moment…. or that I told you and your husband to walk away holding hands, take a mini vacation and forget about the children (“I’ll make sure nobody takes them! haha”) and say corny things like “gaze into each others eyes and remember WHY you love each other and vowed to live your lives together:)….. I’m not just the photographer who tells you to wear all matching clothes, roll down the background of your choice, force you to smile [even though you just almost had a breakdown trying to get all the kids ready] collect your money and shake your hand 30 mins later because my next clients are waiting for their jolly appointment.  No, I try to tap into who you are… that’s how I capture the “real” moments.  That’s why I’m a “lifestyle photographer”.  I’ve never forgotten one client, because you become part of my life.  Even if it’s just a memory of the 2 hours we spent together… I am thankful.

BIG BROTHERS ARE GREAT

FAIRYTALE ENGAGEMENT & WEDDING….

WELL… you can get caught up on the Fairy tale proposal here: A FAIRYTALE PROPOSAL

Kelly had her special day all mapped out in her head, the day she would marry her Prince Charming at the Stone Mill Inn.  With a master plan involving Fosters Flower Shop and Makeup Artist Eliza Davila I’d say everything was perfect.  Some of her great ideas included:  A mother~son and Father~Daughter dance ALL-IN-ONE     /    She had cards placed on each seat of the ceremony asking guests to kindly not use flash photography (makes Trinity happy:)  /   Her “something blue” was a blue heart charm she sewed under one of her ruffles on the dress   /   She wanted to use her Mother’s dress in some way, so she took the scissors to it and made a lovely lace shawl and pinned it with a brooch /  Her seating assignment for the reception was themed by each place the couple visited in their travels including Mexico, Paris, Aruba and many other exciting destinations.  I’m honored to be part of such an event and wish Mr. and Mrs. Kline many adventurous days in the future:)

MY DAYS ARE FULL OF UNEXPECTED DELIGHTS….

The evening with Mike and Shelby was full of laughter and surprises.  This was our rescheduled engagement session because we nearly broke record having many inches of snow in November, but it turned out the be the perfect evening with a gorgeous “magical” sunset. I had the pleasure of holding a precious cross-eyed kitty like a baby (wanted to take her home), Shelby proved that you CAN HIKE chickies rock overlook in hottt high heels, and per my recommendation… GASOLINE DOES get a fire going!  :)  So… I guess I better explain that.  Mike and Shelby spent countless hours making amazing tissue paper pom-poms to decorate their friends wedding (they were deluxe pom-poms too) well after the wedding they ended up with trash bags full of them.  It didn’t seem right to just trash them, so they had a great idea to end it the right way….. burn them in the back yard while I photograph!    So, imagine the scene from the neighbors yard:  a twinkling warm glow, yellow and grey puffs being tossed up randomly above the fence line…  maniacal laughter… a giggling photographer choking on ashes…children screaming “we want marshmallows”….  a strong odor that smells just like gasoline….  and then water spraying to tame the area and keep the Marietta Fire Dept. away:)  It was an evening I will never forget although I’m a little bummed we didn’t end up in a canoe on dry land (inside joke)… well, there is always the wedding!!!!  (insert maniacal laughter)  I’m looking forward to the exciting details that Shelby will inspire me with on the big day.

Love it! Sounds like it was a fun shoot!!

CHANGE IS GOOD!

Thank you for your patience while SummerHouse Photography upgrades ….. AGAIN:)      WHAT does that mean?..growing into a mega company?…NO…getting super organized. So, there has been a lot of positive changes around here……

~ “WE”…that’s right, it’s not just TRINITY anymore!  I added a “CHELSEA”!  (Sorry folks I got the last one available and she’s priceless).  I’ll be introducing Miss Chelsea on the blog soon.  She started out  as a wedding client, I photographed her wedding last May.  We didn’t know at that time God would have our paths cross again bringing us back together here.  It’s really amazing, but everything is falling into place and the pieces of the puzzle are continuing to come together to create Gods perfect plan… She will now be taking care of a lot of the scheduling, corresponding and album design (she’s a super talented graphic designer)
~  ORGANIZED!  Summerhouse Photography is now a “cloud based” company (for you apple fans you know what this means) Between the iMacs, iPads and iPhones we’ll be able to stay super connected.  The studio management software is already in the works and some of you have been able to test drive the system.  This manages each client, task, shoot, etc all with alerts and messaging center.  Each client will have a login page where they can make payments, add products, confirm sessions, and communicate with us.
So…. does this mean Trinity is “getting too big for her britches!!??” NO WAY:) This means I can focus on YOU, the business, the art, the emotion, the communication… the things I consider to be most important.  More communication.  More updates.  More smiles.  More captured memories.

Change IS good although we often fight it because of its unfamiliarity and fears but I never want to stop growing.  I believe God put me here to chronicle life….. for you.  I vow to give that 100%.       ~Trinity

P.S… Did you folks know you can comment on Any blogpost by clicking below?  …. just an  ”F.Y.I”  :)

When snapping Bethany and Tony’s engagement session on the side of the road I couldn’t help myself!..

It just happened…naturally…

MATT & MEGAN [SERIOUS BUSINESS]

SERIOUS BUSINESS… That’s what a white suit is! It’s even more serious when you top it off with a white hat!  :)   The ladies pictured below would argue that “serious business” is doing whatever it takes to get the shot which includes hiking across a muddy field to get to the corn after crossing a field of fresh spiky thistle with sandals!  (thank you)

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Steele.  I wish you two cute love birds all the best.

Tiffany Lewis - November 9, 2011 - 1:07 am

IT STILL HASN’T HIT ME…

It hasn’t hit me yet… she will be graduating High School this Spring!  I remember the day Taylor Nicole was born.   This baby had the most adorable locks of curls and the sweetest dimples.  I’m so proud to be the Auntie (better known as “Sissie”) of such a beautiful,  smart and talented young lady.

wade walker - November 8, 2011 - 4:40 pm

She’s a real beauty , both in form and spirit . And she still has those gorgeous dimples ! What a graceful , loving , radiant person . We love her .

One of my favorite places to photograph…

Random:

I love random.  I even love random places.  I love being inspired by whatever I drive past.. how the sun shines in a certain spot in the evening or how fantastic some places look on a bright overcast day. I don’t know if I’ve ever really shot the same session twice, I like to be different.  Well… that’s what we did… pulled over in a random spot on the side of a backroad with no plan but to capture the moment.

Congratulations to Bethany and Tony on your engagement:)

I CANNOT BELIEVE ITS BEEN 10+ YEARS

Wow, I cannot believe its been 10+ years since I saw Becky’s stunning blue eyes!   We  were best buds in school starting in the early grades and have many fun memories.   I had the pleasure of meeting her adorable family on my trip to Atlanta.  This is random, but it’s actually on my list of “things to accomplish in life” …  [ go to Duran Duran concert with Becky ] hahaaaha.:) We were most likely two of their youngest fans and it was s e r i o u s !!  :)

There is no better place to capture memories than your grandparents home.  Drew’s Grandfather  grew up on this property, born in the house…the same house where he raised his children, the same place that inspired me.
